Yes — on Intel iMacs with a dedicated GPU (Radeon HD 4670 to 6970, GeForce 650M) the graphics chip is repaired, or the plug-in MXM card of the models up to 2011 is swapped, instead of replacing the whole logic board. The 24″ iMacs with M1, M3 and M4 have no separate graphics chip; there the cause is usually the SSD, the power supply or the display.

With component-level repair the drive stays untouched wherever possible. If the SSD or hard disk itself is the fault, data recovery comes first — from €150, payment only on success.
